Colorado Women Flyfishers

Welcome!

Colorado Women Flyfishers (CWF) is a non-profit women’s fly fishing club formed in 1997 to encourage and support women who fly fish, who enjoy the camaraderie of other women who delight in the sport of fly fishing, and to provide a forum for women fly fishers to meet. While not intended as a “learn to fish” club, CWF welcomes women fly fishers of all ability levels. The club seeks to offer a supportive environment in which each member can improve her fly fishing knowledge and skills and have fun in the process. Our diverse membership ranges from young singles to grandmothers, beginners to professionals, and those who can only fish once a year to those who fish several times a week!

This fly fishing club for women is centralized in Denver, Colorado but we welcome women from all over the country.  We have the chapter in the Denver area and also a Northern Colorado chapter located in Fort Collins, Colorado.  We organize women’s fly fishing trips in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico for our club of women who enjoy fly fishing.  Colorado fly fishing is second to none and we enjoy helping to spread the sport of fly fishing to women of all walks of life in our beautiful state of Colorado.

Big Steelhead And The Fishing Girls Who Catch ’Em

As some of you may have noticed, there’s been a small explosion of lady fly fishers on the scene recently – particularly in the North West of North America. In a sport that is dominated by men with beards, it’s hardly surprising that fly fishing girls have proven popular, but this is being compounded by modern technology – with thousands of fishing fanatics now posting photos not only of big fish, but also of their favourite female fishers, on sites such as Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, GooglePlus and Tumblr.
This can only be good for the sport and it’s great to see that fly fishing is finally appealing to the fairer sex. To save you hunting around, here’s a list and some of the best photographs we could find of the more prominent fly fishing ladies. If you know of any more, or if you’re a fly fishing girlyourself and want to be added to our list, drop us a line and we’ll make sure it’s done.

Woman fly fishing

Photo of the Day: Beginner’s Luck Cutthroat

Written by: KynsLee Scott, Blackfoot River Outfitters

After just a couple minutes of her very first float trip, Blair landed this sweet Montana cutthroat.

This was Blair’s first time ever in a boat, in Montana, and casting a fly rod. She did great, and it was a treat to have her in my drift boat! Less than 100 yards from the put-in—after I had just finished giving her some instruction on land—Blair hooked a very nice cutthroat on a dry fly! She was so amped on fishing that she and her husband bought Encounter Outfits at the end of the day. They are hooked for life!
